So much love and sweetness flowing at our first ever Wine Pairing at the West End store. Hosted by Sherbrooke Liquor’s Tara Smith, this is the first of many future events we plan together.
What a great night when Chef Duncan Ly gave Italian a modern twist with some magical combinations. We love the long tables, many new friends were found and our family got even bigger.
For the first of our monthly Chef Showcases, April 12th, at the Calgary store, Hotel Arts Chef Jan Hansen (who grew up in Edmonton, eating Italian at the original store), prepared a five-course meal, in rustic Roman style, for thirty guests.
You’ll notice some changes at the Southside store. We’re expanding the cafe and bakery into the next door space.
In the meantime Spinelli’s Bar Italia has temporarily moved–next door to the pastry cases!
The lucky winner! Emily Derlukewich and her husband Tref Todbout, who got to celebrate his 72nd birthday with a very special dinner, cooked by Top Chef Canada finalist, Chef Vittorio Colacitti.
Chef Vittorio Colacitti flew in specially from Toronto, taking time out from his two restaurants, The Good Son & Born & Raised, to wow thirty guests with an incredible truffle tasting menu.
Alison Philips from Aligra Wines & Spirits (Entrance 58 at W.E.M) paired six of our most popular cheeses with perfect wines.
Oh we had fun. Teresa showed off how to cook Three R’s (Rocket, Rapini and Raddicchio) and a Fennel in this one hour cooking class. Smelt and tasted AMAZING.
Highlight photos by Tyler Enfield of a magical day when everything worked beautifully and the sun shined all day long. And Italy beat England 2:1 in the World Cup.
All 340 of us had a wonderful time. There was a lot of love in the air – especially when we were asked to make Play Dough sculptures of what food meant to us…take a look.
We had a fantastic time, thousands came to see the food, Vespas and Fiats, soccer Match, well done Little Italy. Six nil is a score you can boast about. We ate a lot of food samples, sausages – proceeds to LY Carins school, and a massive 4 x 8ft cake.
