The Wine Grape: represents a small fraction of the more than 500 varieties of grapes. each grape has its own unique characteristics including color, size, thickness of skin, acidity, quantity per vine and flavors. There are only a few varieties that are suited to produce quality wines. The Fruit Crusher: is used to mash up the grapes prior to the pressing step. There are a number of crushers on the market and can range in price into the thousands of dollars. Grape crushers primarily crush or break the skin of the grape in preparation for pressing or fermentation.
Wine Press: For the vintner that likes to make his or her wine from juice or grapes there are some special pieces of equipment that you will need. Cost of the unit seems to be a stumbling block for many vintners. A wine grape press can be bought in a price range, with sizes to accommodate 50 lbs. up to 200 lbs. Commercial units are larger and the price is reflected with size.

The
Table-top Fruit Press: This is a popular item among many winemakers. This
tool is a staple in the winemaker’s arsenal. Its used to squeeze and
press already crushed grapes into juice, while leaving behind the
stems and skins. For a six gallon yield it will take up to 2 crates
of grapes or approximately 36 pounds per crate. The expense of
making
wine using is greater then that of a concentrate kit or even
the pail of juice. If you are buying locally you wont need to be
concerned about shipping costs. However if you are making a purchase
online look for sales and free shipping through some retail outlets.
