The Baker Assistant, under the direction of the Bakery Supervisor, will primarily be responsible to adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures. This position will be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism. This role will also maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times. The Baker Assistant must possess high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and have completed or be currently enrolled in a Baking Apprenticeship program.

Job Duties
- Adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures
- Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times
- Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain familiarity with the composition of all bakery items; following recipes and/or product directions, including the mixing of ingredients, decorating and finishing touches
- Responsible to follow the established production schedule and adapt to changing schedule as required and/or needed
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and tools are being used safely and according to provided direction
- Ensure food is handled, stored, and cooked according to health and safety standards, and that proper cleanup occurs to meet health regulations
- Clean agreed designated areas in accordance with laid-down procedures, morning or evening routines, and hygiene requirements
- Other duties as required
Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, from an accredited education institution or program preferred
- Completed or presently enrolled in Baking Apprenticeship Program
- Two years of experience in a bakery industry
- Strong working knowledge of food services industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Ability to use both manual and electrical processing machines
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated time management skills
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
