FREE FAMILY FUN & FOOD TO CELEBRATE OUR GRAND OPENING, SEPT. 12TH
The Italian Centre Shop extends a heart-felt “grazie” for welcoming us so warmly to your City. Gino Marghella, Manager of the Italian Centre Shop invites you to come celebrate the store’s Grand Opening, Saturday September 12th from 11am – 2pm.
Open for only a couple of months since July 2nd, the specialty grocery store is already a firm favourite for Calgary’s families and food scene–adored by lovers of pasta, pizza, pastries and panini.
Festivities on 12th, all free, include a grape-stomping photo booth, food demonstrations and sampling, music, kids’ entertainers, mini bocce and a massive charcuterie board. Special day-of promotions by suppliers and farmers, also creates a bustling Italian-style, market atmosphere. You can even learn how to make a ‘Baci’, an Italian ‘kiss’, in chocolate.
“We’ve been so heartily welcomed by the Calgary community in such a short time, its our tradition to give back”, explains Marghella, “Our shops aren’t just about great food. They are gathering places where neighbors become friends and our customers become family.”
On top of free entertainment, the extended famiglia and friends can spend Grand Opening afternoon taking in the “Cathedral of Cheese”, a two-storey high, refrigerated display of eighty wheels of cheese.
Also, five thousand “Passports” will be handed out on the day to shoppers, encouraging them to try ten selected popular items in the store, for a chance to win dinner for twelve by a celebrity chef. The Passport sets customers off on a treasure-hunt for hard-to-find goods ranging from Greek fish roe Taramasalata, Hungarian smoked paprika and Portuguese quince jam to Polish tripe soup.
Sampling and demos will be provided courtesy of many local suppliers including Messinger Meats, Parthena Olive Oils and Signature Mushrooms, national award winners like Marini Foods and Santa Lucia cheese-makers, as well as international names like the Swiss Cheese Federation and Orangina.
See you there!
