Job Summary: |
The Department Manager, under the direction of the Store Manager, will primarily be responsible to coordinate departmental activities and operations for the deli, prepared foods/catering & produce departments. This position will ensure the deli, prepared foods/catering & produce departments are running smoothly with ordering, pricing, and inventory control. This role will manage, motivate, and provide employees with the tools required to be successful in their jobs while meeting departmental objectives for sales, margin, and labor goals. The Department Manager must possess high school diploma, ged, or equivalent and one year of experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.

Job Duties: |
- Coordinate/manage the day to day operations of the deli, prepared foods/catering & produce departmental activities and operations
- Greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplary conduct to other staff, including promoting products and services we offer, enhancing loyalty, sales, and profit
- Lead by example to build department commitment to high standards of service
- Encourage a positive team atmosphere that enables the team to meet or exceeds ICS goals and achieve consistently high levels of customer service
- Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive resolution
- Maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to our level of standards, and to set a positive example for your team
- Assist with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed
- Support store operational activities including product ticketing, shipping, and receiving, product flow, floor change-outs, sales and markdowns, and store up-keep
- Accurately monitor and maintain inventories, the flow of merchandise, and weekly orders
- Analyzing and establishing departmental plans and budgets, measuring results, allocating resources, reviewing progress, and making mid-course corrections as required
- Supervise the activities of other departmental supervisors
- Provide feedback to store manager on departmental performance
- Administer disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures
- Overseeing payroll and scheduling for deli, prepared foods/catering & produce departments

Job Requirements: |
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- One to two years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred
- One to two years of experience managing a budget and finances
- One to two years of experience in creating an implementing operation plans
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on coaching, mentoring, and training
- Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
- Open availability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and store openings and closings to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to present a professional image in appearance, words, and actions
- Proven ability to plan, implement, and achieve goals
- Ability to work well as a team player in a fast-paced, energetic environment

Work Conditions: |
- Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
- Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to (50) kilograms
- Interaction with customers/clients, and the public at large
- Competent computer skills working with multiple software programs to manage inventory, ordering, employee schedules, etc. with programs such as but not limited to (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Payworks, SMS).
- Flexible hours including day, evenings, weekends, and holidays
