The women on the 2014 PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs are inspiring for many reasons. They’ve achieved major victories. They’ve come back from serious adversity. They’ve developed innovative, in-demand products and services that their customers love.
Perhaps most importantly, they’re major contributors to the Canadian economy. Together, they contributed $1.7 billion to the national GDP in 2013. They achieved, on average, sales growth of 199% over the past three years. In total, they give 17,569 employees full-time jobs.
These are just a few of the reasons we’re so excited to present the 16th annual W100 ranking. Each winner has a compelling story to tell, and each is worth celebrating. You’ll find the full ranking, detailed information on each winner and dozens and dozens of their stories at the 2014 W100 homepage and in the October 2014 issue of Canadian Business magazine.
A note on methodology:
The PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs ranks female business leaders according to a proprietary formula that combines the sales, three-year revenue growth rate and profitability of their businesses. All data is verified through financial statements supplied by candidates. To qualify, candidates must be owners or significant stakeholders who at least share chief decision-making capabilities.
