Amedei from Tuscany is one of the world’s most delicious and costly chocolate brands. Founded in 1990 by Italian brother and sister Alessio and Cecilia Tessieri, their bean-to-bar artisanal blended chocolates, single origin and pralines, regularly win awards. Cecilia is the world’s first female Master Chocolatier.
Amedei selects the best ingredients worldwide transforming them from bean to bar in the most exquisite chocolate possible.
Amedei’s Porcelana is often called the best and most expensive chocolate bar in the world. The retail price ranges from $15-20 for a 50 g bar, or around $90/kilo. The bar is made from transcluent white cocoa beans of a variety called ‘Porcelana’ because of its colour. The bean is grow mostly in Venezuela and is one of the oldest varieties grown there, although most others have been replaced with disease resistant hybrids. Amedei produces around 20,000 bars a year from Porcelana beans in individually numbered packages to ensure quality control.
